The Shrouds

Synopsis

Karsh (Vincent Cassel), a tech entrepreneur and grieving widower, builds a device to connect with the dead inside a burial shroud.

His company GraveTech uses the shrouds to render buried bodies as 3D models, allowing mourners to watch them decompose via an app.

Reeling from the loss of his wife (Diane Kruger), Karsh falls into a relationship with her sister (also played by Kruger), before a spate of vandalism at his experimental graves puts his enterprise at risk and hints at a vast conspiracy.

THE SHROUDS is an intensely personal work, written by David Cronenberg after the loss of his wife Carolyn to cancer.

The noir dystopia invites viewers to consider real versus digital and mortal versus infinite.
