The Weight

Synopsis

During the height of the Great Depression, battle-scared veteran Samuel Murphy (Ethan Hawke) is torn from his daughter and sent to a brutal labour camp.

The camp’s unscrupulous overseer (Russell Crowe) tempts him with early release if he helps smuggle a fortune in gold across 100 miles of impenetrable wilderness.

Desperate to save what is left of his family, Murphy accepts – but betrayal festers within the crew, making him question how far he will go to see his daughter again.
