Welcome to the Metropolitan Opera’s new Live in HD season – featuring ten spectacular productions, including exciting company premieres, new productions, and classic repertory favourites.
The 16th season of Live in HD kicks off December 8th with Cherubini’s Medea, an epic Met-premiere production starring soprano Sondra Radvanovsky in the title role. Followed by Michael Mayer’s much celebrated production of Verdi’s La Traviata starring soprano Nadine Sierra as Violetta.Later. Later Met Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin leads Kevin Puts’s The Hours, in its world-premiere production, starring the powerhouse trio of soprano Renée Fleming, mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato, and soprano Kelli O’Hara. In exciting news this season will also feature the Met premiere of Terence Blanchard’s first opera, Champion, about the life of boxer Emile Griffith.
